The Ivarson 640 Cutter is a fully-automated block cutter that can be used to reduce blocks into bars, which can then be fed into slicers, exact weight porting machines or other equipment at up to 15 blocks per hour.

Once a block of cheese is placed on the in-feed conveyor belt, it is weighed by a multi-point scanner and cut into slabs of equal thickness. These slabs are then transferred to a second cutter where they are cut into bars or loaves. The Ivarson 640 Cutter leaves no trim cuts, company officials say. In addition, downtime due to broken wires has been minimized with the use of two quick change harps.

Marchant Schmidt Inc. has developed a new cheese slice automation system to meet today’s demands for higher speeds and reduced labor. The new two-lane slice system allows for three vertical levels of accumulation that are two lanes wide. Company officials say this product uses the latest in Allen Bradley control technology, and the Servo-driven belts will maintain product placement throughout the system.

The two lane slice system also features an auto rework station with a built-in scale that allows the operator to rework the product without handling. The reworked slices/shingles are then introduced back into the product flow. Marchant Schmidt also has incorporated a high speed auto infeed system that maintains the spacing of the product onto the film of the wrapper. This new infeed system also incorporates a stack straightener and has fewer belts than previous models, the company says.

Also new from Marchant Schmidt is an auto loaf cutting system designed to automatically reduce 640 blocks down to specified dimensions. Company officials say they have used the latest in ultrasonic cutting technology to develop this flexible cutting system for today’s cheese packaging operations. The auto loaf cutting system is capable of adjusting the loaf diameter from the HMI screen without changing parts. Applications include cheese slicing system, deli cube lines and inline fixed weight cutting machines.
